Weight Loss Scam Warnings Are An Opportunity For Hypnotists

As I taught the students on my Teleseminar on Free Publicity recently, it’s a good idea to set up Google Alerts so you can find out what is going on in the news on a daily basis without getting sucked in the barrage of news available.

Today I received alerts on multiple stories about weight loss scams, and Hypnosis has been mentioned in every one of the stories.

As my friend Mark Cunningham would say… this is a BAD Thing.

However, as Sir Winston Churchill put it:

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity;
an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.

Below are some of the Google News Alerts I received today for the key words "hypnosis"

I’ve been seeing stories like this every day for at least a week now. So where is the opportunity here?  Let’s take a look:

You Can Get In The Media As A Hypnosis Expert

This is a time to send out press releases to any local news media as this story is sweeping the press in both North America and the United Kingdom.

In your press release address the ‘scam’ aspect and offer yourself as a Hypnosis Expert who can help the public spot the scam hypnosis seminars and also how to find a hypnotist who does legitimate weight loss interventions.

This tactic is a win-win for everyone.

  • The public learns the truth and how to spot scam artists
  • The news media gets to present a good and useful story
  • You get credentialed by the media as a Hypnosis Expert

The more people who do this the better, as this story will continue to damage the image of hypnosis.  The other side of the story needs to get out there and be told.

Use This As Part Of A Lead Generation Strategy

Here’s the Google Alert I got today for the keyword "hypnotism"

As a copy writer, the first thing that jumps out at me is what a great headline this is

"Top Seven Weight Loss Rip-Offs"

If I were a hypnotist who does weight loss, I would create a special report (or CD or DVD etc.) using this title, that exposes the real fraud in the weight loss industry that they need to watch out for.

The news media has done a lot of the work for you already.

I would explain how to spot one of these frauds so they never get burned by them or even worse, get their hopes up about being thin only to have their hopes crushed like a shipwreck on a reef.

AND I would address the issue of how there are unscrupulous hypnosis seminars too, and how hypnosis does work one-on-one and back this up with Overwhelming PROOF ELEMENTS.

Then I would offer a free Lean Lifestyle Evaluation as a risk free next step to get them to come in and find out more.

If you don’t get why this would be a very successful lead generation strategy, let me know in the comments and I’ll explain it.  But I think it should be very obvious.
