I recently answered some questions on a local Hypnosis forum where hypnotists exchange marketing ideas. I got some good feedback on what I posted so I’m posting them here for you.

Hi,
I was wondering what your experience has been with Google and Yahoo pay
per click. Thanks.
I have a lot of experience with Google’s version of Pay Per Click (PPC) called Adwords, and moderate experience with Yahoo’s version which they call Search Marketing.
It would help if you asked a specific question on what you want to learn about them, but here’s MY experience.
I have set up Google PPC campaigns for a number of different clients ranging from attorneys to the dating industry.
In each case buying targeted traffic from Google has resulted in
Okay, so I’d like to build on the energy of the article that’s already out there. Should I advertise in the paper it came out in? Any other ideas…. You’re a marketing wizard… Thanks.
No don’t put an ad in because you’ll get way more mileage from the article than you would advertising.
The only reason to advertise is, the paper/magazine refuses to let you put your contact information in the article. Bluntly, I’d tell them to go pound sand if I couldn’t put my contact info or at least a web site URL in the article. I certainly wouldn’t pay them any money.
But that’s your choice. Before spending money on advertising, be certing this is a perfect match for your market (your ideal client prospect), AND you put a special offer that ties in to the article.
Ideally you would want the ad RIGHT NEXT to the article, so that it looks like part of the article, and do it in an ADVERTORIAL style. This means using the same font type as the article uses. (one of these days I’ll scan some advertorials in and do a copy writing analysis for everyone)
Make sure it has a attention grabbing headline and a call to action. If you just put a typical ‘business card’ style advertisement in you’ll be wasting your money.
Now go get some clients.
